Tabby's Steve Young Photos ~~ S. F. 49ers |
Steve's San Francisco 49ers
Years ~ 1999
|
||
Steve appeared on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on January 18, 1999. He talked about his new Harley Davidson motorcycle, which he said he only drives 35 m.p.h., uh huh. He says he DOES wear a helmet.
Steve's annual charity
benefit for the Forever Young Foundation at Snowbird Ski
Resort near Salt Lake City, Utah. Niners Kevin Gogan
and Gary Plummer, Miss Utah '99 Rachel Rasmussen, former
Bengals Kicker Lee Johnson, and LDS composer Kurt Bestor
attended. It raised $60,000. Utah Ski Conditions |

My autographed photo from
Steve, cool, huh? I didn't even ask for it. He just sent
it to me one day, apparently for being regularly
obnoxious and irritating to him. I can't think of any
other reason he'd send it. I know, you can't read it because he wrote across his five o'clock shadow. It says 'Tabby - my friend, Steve Young.' He probably wouldn't have written that if he'd seen the hand-writing analysis I did on him. |

Steve's mom Sherry holds a lamp
he made for her in High School shop. You push down on the
handle to turn it on and off. Guess he didn't think of
getting her 'The Clapper" for Mother's Day. clap on...clap, clap...clap off Sherry
is a school teacher and writes articles for her local
newspaper. She emails a copy of them to me. This is his old room at his
parent's home in Connecticut. Notice the NFL shield on
the wall; the BYU vs.Colorado State poster; and the North
Mianus school POW-WOW poster. This photo is from the ESPN
Mother's Day issue, May 1999. |

Steve with his little laptop
computer. One of his AOL screen-names is Advipsteve, but
it doesn't accept private e-mails or instant messages.
Sorry, can you imagine if he did? His computer would get
so full of our messages, it'd crash. Use keyword: Steve Young, look
for the message boards to ask him a public question. Here is an article about Steve's computer interests. |

Steve helps support the Lance
Faulkner racing team for Wil's Pit Stop in Provo Utah.
Well, at least he did last year. See his signature near
the front wheel.

Here are some stills from the Visa Commercials he did with Jerry Rice. Jerry had been out with a knee injury the entire season before; in these two commercials, it shows Steve appreciative of having Jerry back on the field and so he takes very good care of him, even better care than his date that evening. (this was not his actual girlfriend at the time, just an actress.) On the date, he gives his jacket to Jerry when the girl says she's cold, he takes Jerry along to their restaurant, the movie and the horse carriage ride... On the beach, he's thinking about how lonely he is, buying 'Miss You' cards, drinking milk in a bar to drown his sorrows, and it turns out to be Jerry,as his receiver, that he's missing, because Jerry has been hurt and unable to play. Very cute!
"Women
and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs |
This is a commercial
with an acting dog. Steve takes the dog for a walk to
exercise it; however, they get constantly interrupted by
fans, girls, neighbors, fire hydrants, and kids playing a
football game. The dog feels like he never really gets
any good exercise because they keep stopping. When they go back home finally, Steve runs on his treadmill and later falls asleep in a chair. So then the dog gets on the treadmill and gets his own exercise finally. It was a darn cute dog. It had sad blue eyes and was a very good 'actor' especially when it got soaked by a passing car driving through a puddle by a fire hydrant. These are lousy pictures, sorry. |

So, is he catching that
football or just gotten done throwing it? If this was me, I'd be looking at it and it'd STILL hit me in the face, I have never caught anything in my life, other than my husband and he didn't run very fast. I have no hand to eye coordination. But I can play soccer, so I must have some foot to eye coordination. And I am extremely good at kicking the other girl's shins. But I WOULDN'T rip my shirt off if I won a game, no matter what. |

Dharma became an obsessed Niner fan. She went to all the games--home and away, wore a Golden Gate Bridge hat, made her husband wear a Niner uniform to bed, even left a family dinner so she could sneak off and see the game. It got so bad, her husband had Steve talk to her about being so obsessed, to tell her she DIDN'T make any difference in whether the team won or lost. But Steve caved in and just couldn't tell her that. |
Steve appeared on the
"Greg and Dharma" show. She taught him an 'end-zone' dance. Steve had a laryngitis problem and couldn't speak very loudly in the show. |

This was taken one time when Steve wasn't allowed to play because of injury, so he stood on the sidelines calling in the plays from the coaches to the QB on the field. The QBs' helmet has a small radio receiver inside it, so he can hear the plays. This is why some people say QBs are hearing little voices talk to them that no one else is hearing...
This is one of the shots made for EPSN magazine a few months ago. They did an article about "getting inside Steve Young's head" and this is their idea of conceptual art. Wow. But then you must remember that the ESPN magazine is targeted to much different demographics than those that normally visit this site. Unless you pronounce the letters E-S-P-N as 'essspunnn the magazine'.
Steve's dorm room during 1999's
Summer 49er Training Camp (you can see part of his arm and his feet) That's a HUGE TV for just a small dorm room, huh? Notice he watches CNN. So technically, he could watch Steve Young the Financial Reporter on CNN... wouldn't that be fun? Steve Young watching Steve Young. |
||
Steve does a chat each month at his Young Zone site. Go to http://www.youngzone.org and log-in. The next chat will be November 10th at 6:00 pm, Pacific time. Each chat starts with a different topic. Once was kids and drugs; one was girls in sports. (not girls ARE sports....)
Retirement Controversy--- The |
||
This cartoon appeared this week
in our local Deseret News. It says: "I've watched in awe many a Monday Night from the seat of my recliner... The powerful arm and poetic moves of my favorite 49er.... Though it makes me sad to overhear the latest water-cooler discussion... I'll never believe that the great Steve Young will be sacked by a lousy concussion." It's by Jonathan Brown. When (and if ever!) he DOES retire from pro football, I will leave this site up and add to it as I can over the years. I was a fan of Steve Young's before his pro-football years, and will always be, even after. Unless he starts robbing banks for excitement.... (just kidding.) |
