Steve was born on October 11, 1961 (he's a Libra) in Salt Lake City, Utah. His brother Mike was born two years later on the same exact day. Steve's family then moved to Connecticut when he was in elementary school.
He came back to Utah to attend BYU, & decided to live in Provo and Park City Utah in the off-seasons. He has a Arabian horse ranch in Provo. He lives near San Francisco, California during the 49er's football season, Aug. to Jan.

There really is no picture here yet, but I'll find some soon. There are lots of pictures in the other years. I just haven't found a lot from his early years.

Steve's High School Mascot was a Cardinal redbird, and the school colors were Cardinal Red and White. His dad gave the kids the old family car, a blue Oldsmobile, to drive when his dad got a newer car, and Steve put mascot stickers all over it and called it the 'Cardinal.' I bet when he plays against Jake Plummer he has deja vu all over again.

MAY 1996 'People' magazine page with Steve and his 1980 prom date. She was Christy Fitchner, who later became Miss USA 1986. She is in the left picture with her three sons. (The baby one is named Steven.)

She later converted to the LDS church long after she stopped dating Steve, but credits him with being an example. The article says they had dated since the seventh grade and broke up after he graduated from high school and went out to BYU.

Steve wrote a book for children, called "Forever Young". He talks about his fears and other many childhood problems. It's very good. It has lots of color photos of him throughout the years, and he donates his royalties to his Forever Young Foundation that helps kids and families.
